Finance Associate, Global Deal Team
Location: India
Employment Type: Full-Time
Detailed Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-driven Financial Modeler to join our growing Global Deal Team. This is a technical, execution-focused role at the core of our deal process: you will build and maintain the financial models that underpin every transaction, working closely with our Global Deal Team and Investments Team. This position offers the opportunity to develop deep transaction experience across a diverse range of financing structures while playing a critical role in the accuracy and credibility of the analysis we bring to clients and lenders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modeling & Analysis:
- Build and maintain integrated 3-statement financial models (P&L, Cashflow, and Balance Sheet) for client transactions.
- Comfortably build cashflow, LBO, and merger & acquisition (M&A) models.
- Build bespoke models from scratch and handle complex modelling queries.
- Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis to stress-test model assumptions and support lender negotiations.
- Apply valuation methodologies, including DCF and multiples-based approaches, to support pricing and structuring discussions.
- Review and analyse client financial statements to validate model inputs and assumptions.
- Perform ratio analysis to support credit assessment.
- Understand the results of models, including debt facility mechanics (e.g. waterfalls, dynamic sizing, covenant testing, and cash sweeps), and engage with clients and colleagues in meaningful dialogue about the implications to support credit assessments and lender negotiations.
- Manage your time and deliver work in line with agreed timetables, including managing conflicting workloads and deadlines when necessary.
- Work closely with the Investment Team and Global Deal Team to align modelling outputs with deal strategy.
Quality, Process & Reporting:
- Maintain version control and a clear audit trail across model iterations.
- Establish and adhere to modelling best-practice standards, including formatting, error-checking, and documentation.
- Take ownership of model-related timelines and adhere to internal SLAs.
- Maintain deal and model data on project management tools for accurate reporting.
Core Competencies
This role requires strong technical skills and expertise in:
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, cash flow dynamics, credit metrics, and corporate finance theory.
- Advanced financial modeling, including integrated 3-statement models.
- Cash flow, financial statement, and ratio analysis.
- Valuation methodologies, including DCF and multiples-based approaches.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with VBA is a plus.
- High attention to detail and a rigorous approach to error-checking.
- Ability to synthesise and concisely present complex financial data from a diverse range of sources.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, team-based environments.
Beyond technical expertise, this role also requires:
- Genuine business acumen - the ability to understand what actually drives a business (not just build the model), so they can read a company the way a business analyst would: connecting the numbers to the real mechanics of how the business operates and makes money.
- Ability to look beyond formulas to understand business models, unit economics, and operational value drivers.
- Strong communication skills - articulate, able to speak clearly and credibly with clients and senior stakeholders, not just write formulas.
- High organization - manages multiple models, timelines, and client requests in parallel without things slipping through the cracks.
- Curiosity - treats each model as a way to understand the business, not a mechanical output; brings judgment and insight rather than just execution.
- Ownership - takes full accountability for the end-to-end quality of their output and can clearly explain the model, its assumptions, and its implications to others, clients and colleagues alike.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) (desirable).
- Chartered Accountant / ACA / ACCA (desirable).
- Financial modeling certification (e.g., FMVA) (a plus).
